Last Thursday, 7 girls were killed in a boat accident that was taking them to a Quranic school in the southeast of Ivory Coast.
The local police stated, today, Sunday, that the accident occurred last Thursday afternoon, when “ten female students from a Quranic school, between the ages of 8 and 12, boarded a boat to cross the Bia River heading to the school located on the other bank; however, the boat hit a tree trunk, which caused it to overturn and the girls were killed.”
The police statement indicated that the boat captain managed to miraculously save 3 girls, but seven of them lost their lives tragically in the turbulent waters of the river.
The accident was recorded near the city of Aboisso in Ivory Coast, about 100 km east of Abidjan, the former capital of Ivory Coast.
Local media indicated that the rescue teams recovered the bodies of the seven girls so that the police began to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
