7 Egyptian Fishermen Detained in Libya

Head of the Fishermen’s Syndicate at Al-Burullus Center in Kafr El-Sheikh Mohamed Sharabi announced on Sunday that the Libyan authorities detained seven Egyptian fishermen who were on a fishing trip, without justifying the reasons for their detention.

“one of the fishermen working in Libya, contacted one of the families of the detained fishermen and informed them that their son, along with six other fishermen from Al-Burullus Center, had been arrested 35 days ago,” the head of the Fishermen’s Syndicate told Masrawy News Website.

He confirmed that they were arrested 60 kilometers from the Libyan city of Misurata, and were taken to the city of Sirte, then they were held there for 25 days, 10 days ago, they were deported to a prison in the city of Benghazi.

Sharabi revealed that the syndicate began coordination with some of the families of the detained fishermen, to end this crisis by communicating with the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, to explain the reasons for the detention of the fishermen.
