7 Dead, Thousand Displaced in Sri Lanka Floods

At least 7 people have lost their lives due to floods and landslides currently sweeping across Sri Lanka.

The Disaster Management Center in Sri Lanka reported that more than 50,000 individuals have been displaced from their homes as heavy rainfall persisted throughout the past night, affecting 13 out of the country's total 25 districts.

Security forces and specialized teams have been deployed to assist the affected and evacuate individuals stranded by the deluge.

Sri Lanka, an island nation in South Asia, is prone to seasonal monsoon rains, often resulting in flooding and landslides, particularly in hilly areas.

The country's geography, characterized by its central mountain range and coastal plains, makes it susceptible to natural disasters during the monsoon season.
