At least seven people were killed in an explosion at a biotechnology factory in northern China on Saturday, according to state news agency Xinhua.
Local authorities said one person remains missing following the blast at Jiangpeng Biotechnology in Shanxi province, located around 400 kilometres west of Beijing.
Search and rescue operations are continuing at the site, Xinhua reported, as emergency teams work to locate the missing person and assess the full impact of the incident.
The explosion occurred early on Saturday morning, and an investigation is under way to determine its cause.
Industrial accidents are relatively common in China, often linked to weak enforcement of workplace safety standards.
In late January, a separate explosion at a steel plant in neighboring Inner Mongolia province killed at least nine people.
