The 69th edition of the Egyptian Catholic Center Cinema Festival, has been postponed due to the coronavirus, the Supreme Committee of the festival announced on Wednesday.

The festival, headed by Father Boutros Daniel, will now take place from June 11 to June 18, 2021, amid precautionary measures decided by the Ministry of Health and the cabinet.

The decision comes after the Supreme Committee held several meetings to discuss arrangements for holding the latest edition amid the ongoing pandemic.

The meetings also tackled selecting the celebrities and filmmakers who will be honored at the opening ceremony.

Furthermore, the Supreme Committee will announce soon the five films participating in the official competition of the festival out of 23 films that were screened in 2020.

For the first time, the films of the official competition didn’t screen in the theaters but were screened on streaming services, which necessitated the committee to amend some articles of the film selection list to be in line with the current situation of the production and distribution companies.
