The Kamchatka region in the far east of Russia was subjected to an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9, according to data from the Geophysical Bureau of the Russian Academy of Sciences, today, Monday.
Earlier, the Geophysical Bureau stated that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 was reported, while the intensity of the earthquakes in the administrative capital, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, was 6 points.
According to the office's data, the epicenter of the earthquake is 48 km from the Administrative Capital, and at a depth of 99.5 km.
According to Russia Today (RT), there were no reports of casualties, while eyewitnesses reported that the earthquake caused walls and windows to shake, and pictures showed furniture and foodstuffs falling into shops.
Kamchatka has witnessed in recent weeks several earthquakes ranging in magnitude from 4 to 6.
