A 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit the coast of Chiapas, Mexico, on Friday, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences.
The German Research Center said in its statement that the earthquake, which measured 6.4 on the Richter scale, occurred near the coast of Chiapas in Mexico, according to Reuters news agency.
The center said the quake occurred at a depth of 10 km.
However, last September, Mexico's National Seismological Service announced that an earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale struck the country early in the fourth week of September.
The seismological service said, according to Radio France International, that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 81 km from the city of Qualcoman in western Mexico, in the state of Michoacan on the Pacific coast, and hundreds of kilometers west of the capital, Mexico City.
