More than 623,000 homes and businesses across the United States remained without electricity late Sunday after severe weather affected several regions, according to PowerOutage.us.

Pennsylvania was the hardest-hit state, with about 119,300 outages, representing nearly 1.8% of its 6.7 million customers. A unit of PPL Electric Utilities accounted for the largest share of disruptions, leaving nearly 79,945 homes and businesses without power.

PPL said it had restored electricity to more than 130,000 customers since the storms began, but crews were continuing repairs and rebuilding damaged sections of the power grid.

Michigan ranked second in total outages, with about 110,060 customers affected. A unit of DTE Energy recorded the highest number of outages in the state, with around 82,183 customers still without service. The utility expects power to be restored to 95% of affected customers by the end of Monday.

In New York, Con Edison said it had restored service to more than 166,800 customers out of roughly 173,700 impacted by severe weather. The largest number of storm-related outages was reported in Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Rye, and New Rochelle in Westchester County, where the utility expects to restore electricity to 95% of affected customers by Monday evening.

Going forward, I'll stick more closely to the source material and only trim redundancy, not substantive information.
