On Friday, a car was driven into a Christmas market in Magdeburg, central Germany, leaving behind dozens of injuries, and expected casualties.
Local news reported that the driver of the car was arrested, but there was no details about pressed charges.
Until now, the authorities haven't announced the final number of injured or killed persons in the accident.
Several media reports cited fire and emergency services, saying that 60 to 80 people were injured in the attack.
The area around the market was also closed, according to a police spokeswoman.
Reiner Haseloff, the governor of Saxony-Anhalt, whose capital is Magdeburg, stated: “This is a terrible event, especially now in the days leading up to Christmas."
