The Pentagon announced that six people were killed in two United States military strikes targeting suspected drug-smuggling boats in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
The attacks increased the death toll from the country’s controversial anti-narcotics campaign to seventy-six.
According to US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, the strikes took place on Sunday in international waters and targeted two vessels allegedly transporting illegal drugs, each carrying three individuals.
All six were killed, and no American personnel were injured during the operation.
The strikes are part of Washington’s ongoing campaign to combat drug trafficking networks operating across the Pacific region.
