A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck western Nepal in the early hours of Wednesday morning, killing six people and causing tremors that reached New Delhi.
The US Geological Survey determined the epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at 2:00 am (20:30 GMT) near the Nepalese town of Dipayal, 340 km west of Kathmandu, at a depth of 15 km.
Local police chief Rajendra Damala said six people were killed in the western Dhoti district, including three members of the same family, and five others were injured while they were being treated at a local hospital.
Local authorities reported that some houses were damaged while surveying the losses.
Earthquakes were felt in northern India, but there were no reports of deaths or damage.
Residents of the Indian capital, New Delhi, posted videos on social media of the effect of the tremors, including swaying lanterns and fences.
The Indian National Seismological Center reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.3.
The quake was preceded by a 4.8-magnitude quake that also hit western Nepal at a depth of 10 km around 9:00 pm (1530 GMT).
