At least 59 people have been confirmed dead, and 44 remain missing after devastating floods and landslides hit Nepal following torrential rains, according to local authorities on Saturday.
Nepal Police spokesperson Dan Bahadur Karki reported, "So far, 59 people have lost their lives, 36 have been injured, and 44 are still missing." Rescue teams continue their efforts to locate the missing individuals.
The extreme weather has caused widespread destruction across Nepal, with relentless rain triggering landslides and flash floods that have swept away homes, roads, and infrastructure, making rescue operations challenging.
The country's monsoon season often brings heavy rainfall, but this year's flooding has been particularly severe, overwhelming communities and displacing thousands.
Authorities are urging residents in affected areas to evacuate as search and rescue missions persist amid fears that the death toll could rise further.
