A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck southwestern Tunisia on Sunday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
The center said the quake’s epicenter was near the village of Chebika in the Tozeur region, close to the Algerian border.
In neighboring Algeria, the Research Center in Astronomy Astrophysics and Geophysics reported a magnitude 4.7 aftershock in the province of Tébessa in the far east of the country.
However, Algerian broadcaster Ennahar TV reported that the earthquake measured 5.8 in magnitude, with its epicenter located about 10 kilometers southeast of Negrine in Tébessa province.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage in either country following the tremor.
