The number of LinkedIn accounts belonging to Apple staff was reduced by 50% in a single day, media outlets reported.

An Apple insider pointed out that these accounts used profile descriptions and images that were edited and taken from actual employees.

Research showed that the fake account and bot problem is widespread to the extent that large companies reported that their staff counts were considerably reduced.

The number of Apple's LinkedIn accounts plummeted from 576,562 to 284,991. Moreover, Apple's LinkedIn profile currently shows 281,213 active employee accounts.

Apple's website reportedly describing diversity initiatives has a lower non-specific figure sourced from 2021— "more than 165, 000 talented employees."

Incidentally, Apple is not the only tech giant to see such a huge drop in 'employee numbers' on LinkedIn. Amazon witnessed a similar decline in ‘employee numbers’, from 1.2 million to 838,601 in the same overnight.
