About 50 civilians were killed by terrorists in the southeast of Burkina Faso on Wednesday, the governor of the eastern region said.
Government Spokesman Lionel Bilgo acknowledged today, Saturday that on May 22 and 25, terrorists perpetrated attacks on civilians, respectively, in the towns of Gorgadji and Madjoari.
Bilgo confirmed that 11 people were killed in the first attack in Gorgadji, adding that the operations carried out by the security and defense forces in Madjoari did not lead to finding victims at the present time.
The governor of the eastern province said in a statement on Friday that the residents of Madjoari had been "targeted by unidentified gunmen", adding that the final outcome indicated about 50 people were killed.
Madjoari residents said those who were killed were leaving the town when they were attacked.
