Five skiers died in two separate avalanches in the Alps in France, according to local media reports.

In Savoie, four Norwegian skiers were caught in a massive avalanche while skiing off-piste in the Val-Cenis area, according to Le Dauphiné Libéré and TF1, citing local authorities.

The group, consisting of seven skiers, was swept away by the avalanche, with three bodies recovered at the scene.

A fourth victim, a woman, was airlifted to a hospital in Grenoble, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

In another tragic incident, a Swiss woman was killed in an avalanche near Vallorcine, while skiing with her father and brother.

According to Le Figaro, her father survived, while her brother was hospitalized for medical evaluation.

Officials in the Haute-Savoie region have issued strong warnings about the high avalanche risk in the Alps.
