At least five people were killed and 31 others wounded after shelling hit residential neighborhoods in the Syrian city of Aleppo, amid a sharp escalation in fighting.
Following the attack, the Syrian army announced a full curfew in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh districts, citing security concerns. The military later declared the two neighborhoods closed military zones as operations intensified.
The army also deployed large military reinforcements to Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in an effort to secure the area and contain further violence.
Aleppo has seen renewed tensions in recent days, with the latest developments raising fears over the safety of civilians in densely populated areas as clashes continue.
