Five people were injured, one of them in critical condition, in an explosion that occurred today, Saturday, in a building in the 18th arrondissement in the north of the French capital, Paris, according to a source from the French police.

The explosion took place on the top floor of a three-story building on "Dunor" Street in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, causing part of the façade to collapse and injuring five people, according to Paris firefighters who quickly rushed to the scene.

Residents of the building reported hearing a loud explosion, leading around a hundred firefighters to the scene to confront the risks of any potential fire outbreak and its spread.

The residents of the building were evacuated, and the police set up a security cordon to prevent any other incidents.

No fires broke out, but the firefighters continue to search among the debris of the collapsed façade to ensure there are no other injuries.

The cause of the explosion is still unknown at this time.
