Italian Gimbe Foundation observed that the fourth wave of Coronavirus started in the state, media agencies reported on Thursday.

The foundation revealed that Italy recorded a new surge in the number of deaths related to the virus between July 21, and 27 after 15 weeks of decline.

It also added that there is an increase in the recorded number of COVID-19 daily infections by 64% to reach 31,963, compared to 19,390 last week.

In the same context, the number of patients who are receiving treatment in ICU departments jumped by 14.5%.

However, local media reports indicated that Italian hospitals currently contain a few COVID-19 patients.

It is worthy to mention that Italy was one of the earliest European countries that faced a destructive and tormenting battlefield with Coronavirus last year amid the first wave.
