An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter scale struck the western Turkish province of Çanakkale on Monday.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that the tremor occurred in the district of Ezine at a depth of 10.23 kilometers, according to the Turkish news agency Anadolu.
AFAD indicated that no casualties or damage have been reported so far.
It is worth noting that on February 6th of last year, two powerful earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6 hit southeastern Turkey and northern Syria, followed by thousands of aftershocks. In total, over 57,000 people lost their lives in both countries, and more than two million people were left homeless.
