"Cairo News" channel reported, citing Palestinian media, that a health official confirmed 450 patients are trapped inside Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian Health Minister, Dr. Mai Al-Kaila, stated that the Israeli occupation demanded the evacuation of the injured from Al-Shifa Hospital, an act constituting a war crime. Efforts are underway to transfer the wounded and premature infants to hospitals in the West Bank.
Dr. Al-Kaila appealed to the International Red Cross and the World Health Organization to send medical teams to Al-Shifa Hospital amidst the Israeli land, sea, and air bombardment of Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of thousands of Palestinian civilians, including women and children, since the launch of the Palestinian factions' "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation on October 7th. This operation resulted in over a thousand Israeli casualties and the capture of more than 200 others.
The ongoing conflict has rendered 25 hospitals and 52 health centers in Gaza inoperative. Additionally, 95 government buildings and 63 schools have been destroyed, with over 12,000 casualties, including more than 5,000 children. More than 3,750 individuals remain missing, including 1,800 children under the rubble.
