Gad el-Qady, Head of the Egyptian National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) revealed that the National Earthquake Network recorded a magnitude of 4.53 Richter.
El-Qady added that it took place at 4:33 in the morning, and is about 265 km away from Marsa Matrouh. It was at a depth of 13.68 km.
The official asserted that NRIAG didn't receive any reports about people feeling the earthquake or any casualities reports
The National Earthquake Network works through 70 stations whose locations were carefully selected in light of the seismic history of all of Egypt, and it became impossible for any earthquake to occur without recording and monitoring it, regardless of its strength, even if it was less than zero.
The National Earthquake Network is one of the most modern networks in the world, and Egypt is one of the first countries in the world, North Africa and the Middle East in this field. Its history goes back more than 150 years, and we have the largest seismic history in the world, dating back to more than 5,000 years.
