A four-storey building collapsed in Syria's capital Damascus on Wednesday night, the state news agency SANA reported.

The building collapsed after a 4.3-magnitude earthquake hit the Syrian-Lebanese border on Wednesday evening. The quake was felt in Damascus. It wasn't immediately known if the quake had caused the building collapse.

The residential building collapsed in the eastern suburb of Harasta, and the cause of the collapse remains unknown, said SANA.

The building is home to one family whose whereabouts are yet to be determined.

Search for survivors is underway in the area, where rescuers have already started to remove the rubble.
