At least 43 people have perished and dozens have been injured in a devastating fire at a six-story commercial complex in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
The fire erupted late Thursday in the building located on Dhaka's Baily Road area, according to Bangladesh's Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen.
Firefighting teams were swift to rescue survivors and retrieve bodies from the inferno. By early Friday, local time, the death toll had risen to at least 43, with 22 others receiving treatment for their injuries.
Firefighters reported that the blaze originated in a popular restaurant on the first floor of the complex, trapping many inside the premises.
