42 people were killed on Monday in a dam collapse in a town north of the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
The governor of Nakuru County in northern Kenya, Suzanne Kihika, said, according to Radio France Internationale, that the collapse of the dam came at a time when heavy rains were sweeping the country, which had deadly consequences.
She indicated that this number is a temporary toll, explaining that there are others still trapped in the mud and rescue teams are working to find them.
It is noteworthy that the number of victims of torrential rains and floods in Kenya since last March has risen to about 100 people, while government data showed that 76 people died and more than 131,000 others were displaced.
