42% decrease in number of Protesto cases in 2022

Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued on 31 / 8/2023 Annual bulletin of protesto cases and bankruptcy provisions statistics in 2022.

The most important indicators are as follows:-

Protesto cases :

- The number of paid protesto cases reached 1684 case in 2022 compared to 2902 cases in 2021 with a decrease of 1218 case by percentage of 42%.

- The debt value of paid protesto cases reached 21.6 million L.E in 2022 compared to 63.3 million L.E in 2021 with a decrease of 41.7 million L.E by percentage of 66 %.

- The number of non –paid protesto cases reached 8772 cases in 2022 compared to 15487 cases in 2021 with a decrease of 6715 million L.E by percentage of 43.4 %.

- The debt value of non–paid Protesto cases reached 4.6 billion L.E in 2022 compared to 11.1 billion L.E in 2021 with a decrease of 6.5 million L.E by percentage of 59 %.

- Menofia governorate was ranked first in term of paid protesto cases by 214 cases with a percentage of 12.7 %followed by Cairo governorate with 202 cases with a percentage of 12%, then Garbia Governorate with 192 cases with a percentage of 11.4 %, of the total number of cases.

- Cairo governorate was ranked first in terms of the debt value of paid Protesto cases, where the debt value reached 3.4 million L.E by percentage of 16 %, followed by Kalyoubia governorate, where the debt value reached 2.6 million L.E by percentage of 12.3 %, then

Garbia governorate, where the debt value reached 2.5 million L.E by percentage of 11.8 % out of the Total value of the debt.

- Garbia governorate was ranked first in terms of the number of non - paid Protesto cases, with 1181 cases by percentage of 13.5 %, followed by Giza governorate with 974 cases by percentage of 11.1%, then Cairo governorate, with 920 cases by percentage of 10.5 % out of the total number of cases .

- Giza governorate was ranked first in terms of the debt value of non-paid Protesto, where the debt value reached 3.6 billion L.E by percentage of 79 %, followed by cairo governorate, where the debt value reached 395.1 million L.E by percentage of 8.6 %, then sharkia governorate, where the debt value reached 162.3 million L.E by percentage of 3.5 % out of the total value of the debt.

Bankruptcy

- The number of bankruptcy provision cases reached 3 cases in 2022 compared to 1 case in 2021, with increase of 2 case.

- The debt value of bankruptcy provision reached 2.3 billion L.E in 2022 compared to 32.5 million L.E in 2021 , with increase of 2.3 billion L.E.
