Four persons were killed in two separated shootings that took place in Marseille, France, local media agencies reported on Wednesday.

The first accident occurred Tuesday night as Porte d'Aix Police received reports of a shooting near Sain-Charles train station. Two men were found dead at the scene. Later on, authorities found a wounded 20-year old woman shot in her throat; she died shortly after officers reached her.

Moreover, another 31-year-old man was found with serious back gun wounds, and he was transported to the hospital.

Authorities couldn't identify the criminals behind the accident, or the motives behind the shooting.

Regarding the other shooting, it took place in Raynaud city which is one of Marseille's northern districts at 2 am, according to authorities.

A 25-year-old-man was found shot dead, in addition, another 21-year-old-man was also found at the scene in a serious trauma case although he wasn't injured.

The motives behind the accident are still unclear, but authorities believed that it could be related to the drug trade that is exposed in the city.

Recently, Marseille saw a rising number of violent acts including shootings. Last month, the city witnessed two shootings that left behind two injured persons and a killed teenager.

Marseille’s Prosecutor commented on the tragic accident saying: “it was a motorbike with two people armed with at least one assault rifle — Kalashnikov type — who fired (…) in the street.”Shortly, the file of the investigation was handed to the police.

After that, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin responded: “Beyond this despicable incident, over the last ten years, deaths by settling accounts have been halved in Marseille and I encourage the national police to continue their work to impose the republican rule over drug traffickers.”
