A tragic shooting at a northern Kentucky home left four dead and three wounded early Saturday morning, according to police.

The suspect, Chase Garvey, 21, fled the scene but later died following a police chase that ended with his vehicle in a ditch. He succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities confirmed.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire at a residence in Florence around 2:50 a.m., Florence Police Chief Jeff Mallery reported. Upon arrival, they discovered seven shooting victims.

The deceased included the homeowner, Melissa Parrett, 44, along with Shane Miller, 20, Hayden Rybicki, 20, and Delaney Eary, 19.

Three critically injured individuals were transported to a Cincinnati hospital and are expected to recover.

Chief Mallery revealed that the gathering was a birthday celebration for Parrett’s 21-year-old son. Garvey, who was not invited, seemed to know some attendees.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, and police confirmed that Garvey acted alone, posing no further threat to the public.

Neighbor Leah Moore described hearing what she initially thought were firecrackers around 2 a.m., only to later witness police lights and crime scene activity.

Florence, a city of about 36,000 people, is located about 12 miles south of Cincinnati, Ohio.
