At least four people have been killed and dozens injured after heavy rainfall triggered widespread flooding and landslides in northeastern Brazil, according to local media reports.

CNN Brasil reported that the worst-hit area is Recife, the capital of Pernambuco, where intense downpours have caused landslides in hillside communities, collapsed residential buildings, and submerged major roads.

Authorities confirmed that the death toll has reached four, while efforts are ongoing to determine the exact number of injured, with reports indicating dozens have suffered varying degrees of harm.

Local hospitals are operating at full capacity as they treat the injured, while emergency teams continue search and rescue operations in the hardest-hit areas. Firefighters and civil defense units are actively working to locate survivors and evacuate residents from high-risk zones.

The extreme weather has intensified concerns over infrastructure resilience and disaster preparedness in flood-prone regions of Brazil, particularly during periods of heavy seasonal rainfall.
