The Somali police announced on Saturday that six individuals, including four soldiers, lost their lives in a suicide car bombing targeting a military facility on the outskirts of the capital, Mogadishu.
An additional nine people, including five soldiers, were injured in the attack.
Sadiq Dudis, the spokesperson for the Somali police, confirmed the suicide bombing at a military facility in the Lower Shabelle region.
The extremist group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, a tactic they have employed in similar incidents.
Images circulating on social media platforms illustrated the extent of the damage caused by the explosion, which resulted in the destruction of the security compound and several nearby civilian homes.
The Federal Government of Somalia has been engaged in a long-standing conflict with the Al-Shabaab extremist group.
In recent months, Somali security forces have intensified their efforts against the group, including attempts to dismantle its propaganda network.
Such attacks highlight the ongoing security challenges in Somalia, where the government continues its fight against extremist groups in its pursuit of stability and peace.
