A twin-engine plane crash on a Texas highway left four people injured on Wednesday evening, authorities reported.
The incident occurred in Victoria, a city in southern Texas, when a Piper PA-31 aircraft made an emergency landing and collided with three vehicles.
Deputy Police Chief Eileen Moya stated in a press conference that three individuals sustained minor injuries and were treated locally, while a fourth was transported to a hospital outside the city for advanced care.
“This is not something we encounter every day, but we’re relieved that those involved appear to be okay and are undergoing medical evaluations,” Moya added.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the aircraft model and reported that the pilot was the sole occupant aboard.
The pilot’s identity and condition were not disclosed, and an investigation into the crash is underway.
Photos from the crash site revealed the aircraft split into two near a highway overpass, with debris scattered across the roadway.
A video circulating on social media captured the plane flying at an alarmingly low altitude before descending onto the highway.
Emergency landings on roads or highways are rare but not unprecedented for planes experiencing mechanical issues.
