At least 39 people have died and nine remain missing after severe flooding swept through southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, local authorities said.
Officials said 26 of the fatalities were caused by the collapse of the Liulan Reservoir dam in Hengzhou County, which failed after days of torrential rain.
The flooding began after Typhoon Maysak brought heavy rainfall to the region between July 4 and July 6, causing rivers to exceed danger levels and damaging or breaching several reservoir dams.
Authorities had earlier issued the highest-level red flood alert as emergency crews continued search and rescue operations in the affected areas.
