At least 37 people have been killed and five others remain missing after heavy rainfall triggered devastating floods across central Vietnam over the past week, local authorities confirmed on Monday.
Floodwaters inundated vast areas, including the popular tourist cities of Hue and Da Nang, where residents were seen navigating submerged streets in boats, according to local media reports.
Vietnam’s Disaster Management Agency reported that 78 people were injured and around 13,000 others were affected by the floods.
Authorities have warned that further flooding is possible as heavy rain continues to batter parts of the region.
