At least 37 people were killed in two days of attacks by armed criminal gangs in northwestern Nigeria, authorities said.
The attacks targeted rural communities in Sokoto State, a region that has been plagued for years by heavily armed gangs involved in kidnapping, cattle rustling, and deadly raids.
Known locally as bandits, the groups frequently attack villages, abduct residents for ransom, kill civilians, and burn homes after looting them.
The latest violence underscores the ongoing security crisis affecting large parts of northern and central Nigeria, where criminal gangs continue to operate despite military and police operations.
