The German authorities announced that the number of injured in the vehicle attack in Munich jumped to 36.
Munich’s public prosecutor Gabrielle Tillman revealed that there is no evidence of terrorist motives behind the attack.
Tillman added that the suspect is a 24-year-old man and he is an Afghani citizen with "religious motive" for carrying out the vehicular attack, according to reports.
He had a valid German residency and work permit. Furthermore, he has no criminal record.
Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann told the DPA news agency that the man arrived in Germany in 2016.
His asylum application was rejected in 2020 and a deportation order was issued.
The deportation was overturned in 2021 and a residency permit was issued.
