At least 350 tourists have been rescued from the Tibetan side of Mount Everest following a severe snowstorm, according to Chinese state media reports.
Rescue teams successfully evacuated the stranded group to the nearby settlement of Chudang after heavy snowfall and high winds swept across the region. Earlier reports indicated that nearly 1,000 people had been trapped at an altitude of around 4,900 meters on the mountain’s eastern slope.
The storm caused significant damage to tents and blocked access routes with deep snow, complicating rescue operations. The exact number of people still stranded on the mountain remains unclear.
State news platform Jimu Xinwen reported that several people sustained injuries, though no confirmed fatalities have been announced.
Authorities continue to assess the situation as weather conditions in the region remain unstable. The incident has renewed concerns about safety risks faced by climbers and tourists during the Himalayan winter season.
