At least 35 people were killed and six others injured during a violent clash in the Logone Occidental region of southwestern Chad, according to a government spokesperson.

The deadly incident occurred on Wednesday in one of the region's villages, highlighting the recurring tensions in the Central African nation, where violent conflicts between local farmers and nomadic herders are frequent.

These disputes are often sparked by allegations of livestock grazing on agricultural land, leading to escalations that turn deadly.

In an official statement, the Chadian government confirmed the fatal confrontation and noted that security forces were swiftly deployed to contain the situation and restore order.

Authorities also dispatched a delegation to the affected area to provide immediate support and assess the humanitarian impact.

Such outbreaks of violence underscore the deep-rooted land disputes and security challenges that persist across Chad, particularly in rural regions where access to land and resources remains a critical issue.

The government has pledged to investigate the incident and implement further measures to prevent future clashes and ensure the safety of its citizens.
