33rd Arab League Summit Kicks off

The 33rd session of the Arab League Council at the summit level kicked off on Thursday in the Bahraini capital, Manama.

With the participation of the Arab world leaders, the summit will discuss various issues related to joint Arab action in political, economic, social, cultural, and security fields.

The Arab leaders are set to tackle the Israeli war in Gaza and the means to resolve the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution, means to achieve stability in Libya and support the Lebanese state, and ways to end the war in Sudan and support Somalia's quest to maintain its sovereignty.

Arab leaders and officials attending the summit include Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi; Hamza Abdi Barre, the Prime Minister of Somalia; Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League; Rashad Mohammed Al Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of the Republic of Yemen; President Mohamed Al Menfi, Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya; Bashar Al-Assad, President of Syria; Najib Mikati, the Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic; Ismail Omar Guelleh, the President of Djibouti; Aziz Akhannouch, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco; Abdel Latif Jamal Rachid, the President of Iraq; Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine; King Abdulla II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; Mohamed Ould Cheikh AI Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania; and Azali Assoumani, President of the Union of the Comoros.

International dignitaries will also attend and speak at the summit including António Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, and Francesca P. Albanese, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

This will be the first time the Kingdom of Bahrain to host a meeting at this level, whether for regular or emergency summits.

The 33rd Summit is gaining international momentum amid the security challenges in the region, emphasizing the need for constructive decisions that will strengthen Arab unity and support peace, security, and stability efforts in the area.

Hosting the 33rd Arab Summit is a major political event for Bahrain, highlighting the significance of its timing and location. This first-time hosting underscores the importance of Bahrain's esteemed and prudent diplomacy in fostering and enhancing Arab-Arab relations and broadening their scope.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, along with other world leaders, headed to the Kingdom of Bahrain on Wednesday and Thursday.
