A building under construction collapsed before dawn on Sunday in Angeles City, the Philippines, trapping at least 30 people beneath the rubble, according to local authorities.
Officials said more than 20 people were rescued from the site, while between 30 and 40 others were believed to remain trapped as emergency crews continued search and rescue operations.
The collapse occurred around 3 a.m. local time in Pampanga province following heavy rainfall and strong winds that struck the area overnight.
The local weather agency reported that around 44 millimeters of rain fell within one hour on Saturday evening.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse.
