At least 30 people were killed and four others injured after armed attackers stormed a village in Nigeria's Kaduna State early on Monday, according to local residents.
Witnesses said the gunmen entered Naridun village in Kaura Local Government Area around midnight, opened fire indiscriminately and set homes ablaze. The victims included women, children and elderly residents, with eight children among the dead.
Residents said security forces arrived several hours after the attack, while authorities continued recovering bodies from the village.
The assault underscores the persistent insecurity in northwestern and north-central Nigeria, where armed gangs frequently carry out deadly raids on rural communities. No group has claimed responsibility for the latest attack.
Kaduna State Police said further details would be released as investigations continue.
