At least 30 people were killed after armed militants ambushed travelers in northwestern Nigeria, according to a security report prepared by the United Nations.
The attack took place in Zamfara State along the Magami-Dansadau route, where gunmen targeted civilian travelers in a deadly roadside ambush.
The UN report stated that the victims included civilians, while several others were also injured during the assault.
Zamfara State remains one of Nigeria’s most unstable regions, frequently affected by kidnappings for ransom, armed raids, killings, and large-scale looting carried out by heavily armed criminal groups.
Security analysts warn that violence linked to armed gangs and militant networks continues to worsen across northwestern Nigeria despite ongoing military operations aimed at restoring stability.
