Dozens of Jerusalem’s residents have lodged suits with the Central Court in the city  against the Israeli authorities. The claimants revealed that emissions released by 30 factories of petrochemicals located at Haifa Bay,  spread  cancer either of lung or lymph glands.

The bay is ranked as the major industrial zone in Israel as it houses hundreds of factories, oil refineries and  power plant.

Studies revealed that those facilities release pollutants into the air and the surrounding environment. Destructive effects of those pollutants extend to various parts of the Palestinian territories.

The claimants warn that the bay housed containers of poisonous materials for years. Meanwhile, tubes that convey dangerous materials aren’t closed strictly.

Gases and carcinogens leak out of those lines.

About half a million people reside near Haifa Bay and they have higher rates of diseases of respiratory system, cancer and heart disorders.
