On Monday evening clashes erupted between a number of young people protesting against the lockdown decision and the security forces in the city of Tripoli, northern Lebanon, leaving more than 30 people injured, according to the National News Agency.
It is not clear whether the move came upon a call of a specific party or not, at a time when the city witnessed similar protests against strict lockdown measures to limit the spread of the Coronavirus, but these protests didn’t result in confrontations with the security forces.
A number of protesters threw stones in protest against the general lockdown and arrest warrants against the violators, and the stifling economic crisis, meanwhile, protests developed into confrontations with the security forces.
The security forces used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the demonstrators.
