A train derailment in Iran’s southern Kerman Province on Friday left 30 people injured, according to local media sources. No fatalities have been reported.

The incident occurred on the railway line connecting the cities of Kerman and Zarand. Babak Mahmoudi, head of the Iranian Red Crescent's relief and rescue organisation, confirmed that 30 passengers sustained injuries when the train veered off the tracks.

A statement from the National Railway Authority's Public Relations Office, cited by Tasnim News Agency, noted that all passengers were safely evacuated from the train after technical staff and rescue teams arrived on site.

Train derailments are not uncommon in Iran, with previous incidents resulting in significant casualties. In June 2022, a derailment near the central city of Tabas claimed 21 lives and left dozens injured after the train collided with an excavator.

In another major accident in 2016, a fiery collision between two trains in northern Iran killed 44 people and injured many more.
