Iraqi army said three rockets were fired at the US embassy in Baghdad early Thursday.
The Iraqi army affirmed that the embassy itself was not hit, but three nearby places in Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone were.
The Security Media Cell announced targeting the Green Zone in Baghdad by three Katyusha rockets, according to a statement received by the Iraqi news agency (INA).
SMC stated that an outlaw group targeted Baghdad's Green Zone with three Katyusha rockets, as the first one landed near the headquarters of the National Security Service (NSS).
Moreover, the second landed in the Grand Festivities Square, while the last one landed near the area of Sheikh Omar in a residential neighborhood, damaging the wheel of a citizen.
Accordingly, SMC affirmed that such acts that do not want the good of the country, will be strongly confronted by the security services.
It also asserted that the security forces will intensify its intelligence and field operations to captures those who have carried out such actions, endangering the lives of citizens, as well as targeting foreign diplomatic missions.
