Prominent TV anchor Khaled El Ghandour said on Saturday that the Confederation of the African Football (CAF) has nominated 3 referees to choose one among them to officiate the CAF Champions League final.
Al Ahly are set to face off Zamalek on November 27 at Borg Al Arab stadium in the final.
1st Choice:
Moroccan referee Redouane Jiyed came very close to running the game.
El Ghandour said that he is the first-choice referee by the CAF to run the game as he had officiated Al Ahly- Al Hilal match in the current edition Champions League in the group stage, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
2nd Choice:
Algerian referee Mustapha Ghorbal could also officiate the encounter, as he had run ES Tunis-Zamalek clash in the current season edition in the quarter-final.
3rd Choice:
Gambian referee Bakary Gasama is the third choice, but his chances were very weak because of his bad performance, especially with the Egyptian clubs.
It is worth mentioning that the Red Devils qualified for the final after demolishing Wydad of Morocco with 5-1 on aggregate.
On the other hand, the White Knights reached the final after thrashing Raja of Morocco with a 4-1 victory on aggregate to make it all-Egyptian champions league final.
