Algerian state television said on Thursday that three crew members of a military helicopter were killed in a crash during a training mission yesterday night.

A Ministry of Defense statement saying, “While carrying out a programmed night training sortie last night, a military combat helicopter of the MI-171 type belonging to the Air Force Command fell on the outskirts of Al-Manea Airport in the Fourth Military Region, resulting in the martyrdom of its three-member crew.” ".

He added that an investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the accident.

On Thursday, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune offered his condolences to the families of those killed in a military helicopter crash.

According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, the military helicopter belonging to the Ouargla Air Base crashed last Wednesday night near the Menia Airport.

The accident also resulted in the death of Colonel Amara Reda, Lieutenant Colonel Jalal Yassin, and Contract Sergeant Belgarbi Muhammad
