Three climbers from Latvia have died after falling from Mount McKinley (Denali) in Alaska, while a fourth climber survived and was airlifted to hospital for treatment.
The accident took place in Denali National Park and Preserve, where a group of seven climbers was attempting an ascent. According to U.S. National Park officials, four members of the group fell near Denali Pass at an altitude of around 2,100 feet below the summit area.
Rescue teams managed to recover one survivor from a remote mountain basin located at approximately 17,200 feet. The injured climber was then transported by air ambulance to a nearby hospital for emergency care.
The remaining three members of the group, who were not directly involved in the fall, were able to return safely to base camp after assisting their teammates following the incident.
The climb took place on Denali, the highest mountain in North America, standing at 20,310 feet (6,190 meters) and known for its extreme weather conditions and dangerous climbing routes. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fatal accident.
