A police training aircraft crashed on Wednesday in northern Iran, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, according to a statement by the Iranian police, as reported by the official IRNA news agency.
The light training plane went down near the city of Rasht due to a reported "technical malfunction."
Authorities confirmed that the victims included the pilot, co-pilot, and a flight engineer. No further details about the crash have been disclosed.
Iran has experienced multiple aviation incidents in recent years involving military aircraft, training planes, and helicopters.
In November, two members of the Revolutionary Guard, including a brigadier general, were killed in a helicopter crash during an anti-terrorism operation in southeastern Iran.
Earlier in May, a helicopter crash claimed the lives of former President Ebrahim Raisi, seven accompanying officials, and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, prompting an early election in the country.
