Three people were killed and three others injured after part of an old bridge under demolition collapsed in South Korea, authorities said.
The incident occurred in Seoul while workers were conducting a safety inspection after noticing structural movement during demolition work on the aging overpass.
Lee Jung-won said the victims were crushed beneath debris when a section of the bridge suddenly gave way.
Emergency crews and police shut down traffic around the area, where twisted steel beams and shattered concrete slabs were left hanging dangerously from the structure.
Part of the debris also fell onto a nearby railway line, forcing Korea Railroad Corporation to suspend some train services to Seoul Station.
The bridge, originally built in 1966, had been undergoing demolition since August last year over safety concerns.
